In the year 2000 as we moved into our first built home we decided to buy a dog to go along with our new found space in the countryside. A pure bred Labrador called Dakota Prince was the result.
I picked him up from some people in Johns Street (and handed over the £350.00, yes pounds) and headed out to the Boat Club with him in a box in the front of the van as I was setting up the bar out there for the annual BBQ.There was no minding on him as every Man, Woman and child that passed cuddled him and spent some time with him.
That is now what seems so long ago and Dakota is still with us but getting on a bit and slowing up. So we made a decision to get another dog while he is still here because if and when he goes we probably wouldn't get another. That said he did have company for a while a few years ago. Max, Leigh and Gary's Labrador pup came to live but was too wired so he had to go.
Thanks to my blog's nemesis, Facebook, I spotted a post by Majella Londra who I have known for years thanks to the Goal Bar and the different circle of friends you slip in and out of with time. The post was on the lines of "does anyone want a cute pup". The pup's were belonging to a friend of hers, Tracy Hamilton, who just wanted good homes for the pup's.I am friends with Tracy on facebook but when we met she, nor I knew each other, facebook eh!!, she did however know Liz and as it turns out lived next door to Ronans wife Elaine in Parklands for years, so it is a small world after all!!!.
The cutest pup, I thought, was a bitch which we didn't want and it didn't matter as Majella had picked her, Toffee, as she is now known. So we picked two dogs, 1 for Leigh and Gary and 1 for us.
Buster came home with us and his chubby bro went to them.
Brazen, Bold, Cute, Sly, Cheeky, Mischievous, Pest but most of all friendly are the ways to describe him.
He was to be called "Biscuit" but during our camping trip to Dublin (Blog to follow) we went to see Toy Story 3 and the kids all came out and decided he was to called Buster.
The Galvins had a dog when they lived in Moorfields called Buster that they grew up with so its like a full circle now.The picture below is Michael and John and Buster.
The Pest

Oh Buster. I loved him so much. It makes me cry to see that photo!
